Instead of winding down towards the end of the year, things here at BLANKbottle have just been gathering speed. It’s been a super blessed year for me, but I’ll send more specifics in my usual December accolades e-mail! For now, it’s time to release my new summer wine! And yes, after many requests, I am glad to present to you a white blend: The JOEL 71% Chenin blanc and 29% Viognier 2008 (again with its own wine tasting movie). You will notice in this movie that I do not take you to the vineyard as in previous movies. We had 14 days in which to produce 19 movies (with a quite inexperienced actor I might add), so for this one, being the last of the lot, the beach had to do!
This wine will challenge your perceptions about white wine produced from relatively hotter regions. With all the grapes coming from Wellington, the end product is anything but the high alcohol tropical fruit bomb you would expect – a truly spectacular fresh complex white.
I decided to release the wine for R35 a bottle. I however think that the wine is worth at least R65 a bottle. Click here to buy it on my website. If you would like me to personally recommend something and attend to your order, please reply to this e-mail.
