Although you haven’t heard much from me in the last few weeks, my life has been anything but quiet! This e-mail is to bring you up to speed on what is happening here at BLANKbottle. Most of my time was spent away from the office, on the road, driving from one vineyard to the next. This year’s harvest went extremely well. My goal is to, each year, make more wine than the year before. This year we made 13 batches of wine, using 10 different varietals from 4 different areas. The whites are finished with fermentation and the reds will be pressed in the week to come. For photos, go to BLANKbottle’s fan page on facebook.
I’ve also bottled 3 new wines and the plan is to release a new wine almost every second week for at least 3 months to come. Labelling is taking place in the next week or so.
Last, but not least: My brother is here from Switzerland. And that means films, crazy schedules and more films. We were commissioned to make 4 new wine films for “Hands on wine”, the new wine section within Woolworths. For those of you who don’t know, “Hands on wine” asked me to be one of the 4 winemakers to work on the wine range for South Africa’s best selling rock band, the Parlotones. The first wine we made for them was a red blend called “GIANT MISTAKE” and the new white that’s just been launched is called “PUSH ME TO THE FLOOR”. The wines are exclusive to Woolworths. Last week we made the new Short film for “PUSH ME TO THE FLOOR” with the band. Click here to view the pictures on BLANKbottle’s fan page on Facebook.
Please see the wines now selling on my website: The Midnight Call 2007, BATAVIA 2008 and The Spaniard 2007. The Spaniard and BATAVIA are both down to the last pallet now.
If you want to track my whereabouts you’re welcome to follow me on Twitter. I try to keep you up to speed with photos as well as text.
Until next month then, when I will tell you more about “The Spaniard Educational Range”.
