Four of BLANKbottle’s wines received 4 out of 5 stars in the new Platter Guide for wine (2011) that’s just been released. As a rule, I don’t enter BLANKbottle into any competitions as I personally don’t see the purpose. However, 6 years ago, just when I started out, Platter got hold of me. I’m still not sure how they convinced me to list BLANKbottle. But as things are looking at the moment, I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing…
Please note that the Platter is not a competition but merely a guide.
The wines that got 4 stars are:
1. BATAVIA – Cab, Merlot, Cab franc, Pinotage – R52.61 a bottle (only one pallet left)
2. THE SPANIARD 2007 – SOLD OUT
3. “The WHITE BLACK 2009”
4. “BLACK 2008” – I’m hoping to release both these wines next week. Watch this space!
The other wines that received 3 ½ stars are the:
1. Moment of Silence 2009 – R49 a bottle (50% sold out in 4 weeks after the release)
2. Grenache 2007 – R59 a bottle (150 bottles left)
3. Carignan 2007 – SOLD OUT
4. Mourvedre 2007 – R59 a bottle (one pallet left)
And the Cinsaut 2007 and Midnight Call 2007 received 3 stars.
So that’s it – probably the only “official” rating you’ll ever get for BLANKbottle!
